Secret to Die Casting Copper Revealed - The greatest challenge of the copper motor rotor project has not been to die cast copper, but to die cast it economically. A fundamental understanding of the failure of past trials – namely short die life – has been the focus of current research. It was decided in the early phases of the project that the steel traditionally used in dies to cast aluminum rotors needed to be replaced with a high-temperature material suitable for molten copper. Energy Crisis in Brazil: Higher-Efficiency Motors in Demand - As utilities throughout the world struggle to keep pace with ever-increasing energy consumption, a whole new market for energy-efficient motors in consumer products is emerging. In May, a severe energy crisis in Brazil prompted a government-mandated rationing program that ordered every household in the nation to cut energy use by 20 percent.
